Content Differentiation

While already knowing that content differentiation was important in a classroom, this video presented it in a real-life classroom which gave me a new perception of how it is used in a class. Content differentiation is important in schools because each students learns differently than their classmates, and they all have individual needs that need to be met in order to get their best work. This video brought up many different strategies to incorporate differentiation in a single classroom. With help of a professional, the lead teacher was able to apply a few more strategies that get the students involved at their appropriate levels. One thing the teacher did that stuck out to me was the puzzle pieces.

Each puzzle piece had a students name on it with a question they were supposed to answer with he group. Not only that, but the questions were fit to the level at which the students was on in their learning. This allowed for a low-risk environment for the students to participate in class. Another thing that caught my attention was the vocal cards that included pictures. One might not think much into what is important about adding a picture to a vocal card, but this allows for students that have problems reading a visual to understand the word that is being presented. This video was very useful for me as a continue to pursue my degree in education by showing me how content differentiation can be used in a classroom.
